My dad worked for NASA after WWII through the Mercury, Gemini, and Apollo rocket programs. He lived in an amazing time, with a life-long love of flight. At 7yrs old he was helping aircraft mechanics at Messer Airfield (Birmingham, AL) after school was out each day. Back then the planes were made of wood, wire, and fabric (1924). I found some old photos taken at Messer Field from around that time (shown below).
By the time he retired from NASA in 1972, he had helped put the first man on the moon! I miss him very much!! ❤️
